Injury prevention, joint health, and restorative energy.

The essence of Yin yoga is surrender. It focuses on postures that lengthen the muscles surrounding the hips, pelvis, and lower back. Students typically hold these postures for 3-10 minutes per side in order to lengthen the connective tissue that surrounds the joints and increase its elasticity. Since a Yin yoga practice often includes several long, seated forward bending postures, it also restores energy and calms the nervous system.

This Yin practice is designed to relieve soreness in your legs with appropriate stretching. It’s perfect for post-workout, rest days, or when you’re feeling tender. Use a block, strap, and bolster to release deep-held tension in Seated Wide-Legged Forward Fold, Saddle Pose, Half Shoelace Pose, Reclined Twist, and Hand-To-Big-Toe Pose. Lean into the support of a strap and blocks in this Yin practice that explores the boundaries these props create. It’s a relaxing class to refuel your energy when feeling depleted. Move gently through Reclined Hand-To-Big-Toe Pose, Figure Four, Navasana (Boat Pose), Paschimottanasana (Seated Forward Fold), and Supta Baddha Konasana (Reclined Butterfly) before landing in Savasana.
